It was surprising that one of the most widely-produced two-axle low-sided wagons for Britain wasn't available as an RTR detailed model for 'OO', until we stepped in with our exclusive commissions from Bachmann Europe!
Dubbed 'plates', their outline design originated under the LMS and LNER, and hundreds of the versatile wagons were constructed under BR, too. Diagrams evolved as changes to brakes, axle boxes, buffers and drawgear were modernised, while many were subjected to further modifications throughout their lives, often finding new uses in departmental use, or on internal rail networks.
