TMC point motors and decoders
TMC creates award-winning layout control accessories
The Model Centre has introduced a new award-winning solenoid point motor design and a new DCC solenoid motor accessory decoder for the model railway market. Units can be used simultaneously, or in the case of the accessory decoder, with other compatible solenoid motors.
The solenoid point motor is a continuation of the popular Hattons (HAT-PM-01) solenoid motor design, developed for the now defunct retailer by DCC Concepts. Developed exclusively for TMC by leading model railway electronic and systems specialist, DCC Concepts, the new turnout motor (TMC-TPM.1 single-pack / TMC-TPM.3 triple-pack) and solenoid accessory decoder (TMC-DEC.1 single-pack / TMC-DEC.3 triple-pack) have been developed to be rugged and reliable.
Both items are available to purchase individually as single units, or in triple-packs for greater savings and offer highly customisable and simple installation.
TMC’s solenoid turnout motor can be mounted above or below baseboard tops using small screws through the four 3mm diameter mounting holes. Alternatively, it can be used to power signals, too. Of sturdy metal construction, with a powerful throw the integrated pivot creates a reverse crank, while a second opposite-axis crank provides more options to ‘throw’ turnouts, operate signals or animate a scene of your choice. The unit can be used to power N, TT:120, OO, OO9 and O gauge turnouts. Crank mounting holes give options for 6- or 7mm long throws.
Alternatively, removing the crank mechanism, the unit can be mounted directly underneath points using the rod extension bar. Units are supplied pre-wired with a 140mm-long pre-tinned cable ribbon for hassle-free linking to a screw-terminal block such as the solenoid accessory decoder, or for soldering to existing layout wiring.
New TMC DCC accessory decoder
TMC’s TMC-DEC.1 DCC accessory decoder features screw-terminal connections with simple addressing and gives control of the TMC-TPM.1 solenoid point motor under DCC (or any similar 16VAC solenoid point motor). For use with turnouts, frog power control is provided, while for feedback to control panels, outputs for LED connections are provided, too. The unit incorporates a CDU to fire the solenoid motor so no additional power is needed. The TMC-DEC.1 is also available as a three-pack to offer even better value – TMC-DEC.3.
TMC’s Howard Smith explained, “We recognised the success of the Hattons (HAT-PM-01) solenoid point motor with our customers, developed for the now defunct retailer by DCC Concepts and the winner of a Hornby Magazine award. We’re pleased to introduce this continuation, using the same manufacturer and design pattern to provide the model railway market with a customisable and reliable control method for points, signals and other accessories, at a very competitive price, with options for DCC modellers, too.
Prices of the new units (available now) are as follows:
TMC-TPM.1 Solenoid Point Motor: £7.50
TMC-TPM.3 Solenoid Point Motor (three-pack): £21.50
TMC-DEC.1 TMC Solenoid Decoder Board: £12.49
